Pulse Nightclub
Barbara Poma and Ron Legler founded Pulse in 2004. It was a gay bar, dance club, and nightclub in Orlando, Florida, and it is recognized as an LGBT historic place. While it served as a vibrant LGBTQ nightclub for many years, the site is now remembered for a tragedy. On June 12, 2016, the club was the scene of the second-deadliest mass shooting by a single gunman in U.S. history. This event was also the second-deadliest terrorist attack on U.S. soil since the September 11 attacks. The violence resulted in 49 people being killed and 58 other people being injured. I often see people visiting the area in quiet reflection to remember those who were lost.
