Van Andel Arena
Look up at the scale of this building in the Heartside district of Grand Rapids. Van Andel Arena is an event venue designed by Rossetti Architects. Since its inception in 1996, it has become a major hub for sports and entertainment in Michigan. Depending on the event, you can find 10,834 seats for ice hockey or 11,500 for basketball. The venue's popularity was evident early on, as it attracted over five million patrons in its first 5 years, 1996–2001. I've noticed the crowds here always seem to be in a hurry to get inside for the big show. Whether it is a game or a concert, the energy in this part of the city peaks whenever the doors open.
