You can find the Historical Exhibits & Education Center at 701 North Tamiami Trail in Sarasota. This library building is a National Register of Historic Places listed place, designed in the Mediterranean Revival architecture style. If you look closely at the exterior, you can see the influence of its architect, Thomas Reed Martin. The site holds a special place in the city's development, as it was home to the first public library from 1941 to 1976. It is a great spot to pause and appreciate the local heritage before you continue your way through the city. I always find the architecture here a bit more elegant than the modern blocks nearby.
