San Diego County and the Save Our Heritage Organisation worked together to relocate several properties to create Heritage County Park. This historical park was developed to preserve examples of the city's historic Victorian architecture, ensuring these structures remain as a part of the local scenery. As you walk through the almost eight acres of the park, you can pick out specific preserved styles including Italianate, Stick-Eastlake, Queen Anne and Classic Revival. The park is located near Old Town San Diego State Historic Park, making it a great stop if you are exploring that area of the city. I have found that the different rooflines and ornate trim of these old houses make for some of the most interesting perches in the neighborhood for a bird like me.
