The History Museum at the Castle is a museum in downtown Appleton, Wisconsin, housed in a building designed in the Tudor Revival architecture style. It is owned and operated by the Outagamie County Historical Society. Founded in 1985, the museum previously operated under the names The Outagamie Museum and The Houdini Historic Center. Tucked into Appleton, Wisconsin, the Hearthstone Historic House Museum is a house started in 1881. Architect William Waters designed the building in the Queen Anne style, and it was previously known as the Henry J. Rogers House. It holds a special place in history because on September 30, 1882, it became the first residence in the US powered by the Edison system using a centrally located hydroelectric station. You can also find it listed on the National Register of Historic Places, where it was added on December 2, 1974. I always think the architecture looks quite grand from the street.
The Fox Cities Performing Arts Center is a nonprofit organization located in downtown Appleton. I've seen plenty of folks heading inside for a performance, as it is also the home of the Fox Valley Symphony. It is a spot that draws a crowd, whether for a local concert or a touring production.
