Divčibare

Divčibare sits at about 975 meters on the Maljen plateau in western Serbia, a short detour from Valjevo and one of the easiest mountain escapes for drivers coming from central Serbia. The resort has almost no permanent residents, just 86 by the last count, but the roads leading up here carry heavy weekend traffic year round as Serbian families head for the fresh air, the ski runs, or just a change of scenery. Drivers from Belgrade usually take the A2 motorway toward Čačak, then branch off through Lajkovac or Ljig and climb through Valjevo before the final stretch up to the plateau, a trip of around 122 km. Coming from Novi Sad or Šabac, the route runs through Šabac and Valjevo, while visitors from Čačak or Kragujevac cross through Gornji Milanovac and Ljig before turning onto the mountain road. The Valjevo to Divčibare leg, just 38 km, is the daily local run for people from town heading up for the day or the weekend. Longer trips from Novi Sad, Niš, or Pančevo mark this as a genuine getaway destination rather than a quick errand. Once on the mountain, the road network connects to Zlatibor, about 77 km away, a popular onward drive for tourists stringing together two of western Serbia's best known resorts. The plateau itself stays open and gently rolling above the tree line, ringed by forest and views toward the other Serbian mountains, which is what drew skiers and health tourists here back in the Yugoslav era and still does today. Iz Beograda se stiže preko autoputa A2 pa kroz Lajkovac ili Ljig do Valjeva i dalje uz planinu, oko 122 km, dok je relacija Valjevo-Divčibare od 38 km svakodnevna ruta meštana. Odavde je i kratak skok do Zlatibora, 77 km, omiljena kombinacija za turiste. Visoravan je otvorena i ravna, okružena šumom, poznata po skijalištu i zdravom vazduhu još iz jugoslovenskog perioda.
