Nidarosdomen
Heinrich Ernst Schirmer is the architect of Nidaros Cathedral, a Lutheran cathedral in Trondheim. The building is designed in Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles. It was built over a 230-year period, from 1070 to 1300 when it was substantially completed. Following this, a major reconstruction began in 1869 and was completed in 2001. The site is a significant location in Trøndelag county, as it is built over the burial site of King Olav II and serves as the place where the consecration of new Norwegian monarchs occurs.
