Naturalis Biodiversity Centre
You will first notice the scale of the Naturalis Biodiversity Centre in Leiden. This national museum of natural history is designed by Neutelings Riedijk Architects and attracts 271,000 annual visitors. It was founded in 1984 and holds a collection of approximately 42 million specimens. While you enjoy the exhibits, remember that it also functions as a research center on biodiversity. I have seen a few crumbs dropped near the entrance by hopeful birds, but the real treasures are definitely kept safely inside the glass cases.
