Stari most
Mimar Hayruddin designed Stari most, a stone deck arch bridge located in the city of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This bridge crosses the river Neretva and reaches a height of 24 meters. Suleiman the Magnificent commissioned the bridge in 1557, and it has since become a National Monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina. When you look at the bridge, you can see the precise stone work that Mimar Hayruddin planned for the arch. I often see people pausing at the edge of the river to take in the scale of the structure. It is a significant piece of heritage that defines the skyline of Mostar. Whether you are walking across it or viewing it from the banks of the Neretva, the bridge is the most prominent feature of the area.
